Bruce Talbot is a noted national subject expert on the topic of substance abuse and emerging drug trends. He has appeared on the NBC “TODAY Show,” CNN’s “Talk Back Live,” ABC “A Closer Look,” CBS “Eye on America”, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s “Market Place” and the BBC “Science Frontiers.” Bruce has been interviewed for stories published in the New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, and Congressional Quarterly magazine. In 2011, he appeared on super-station WGN-TV news with reporter Robert Jordon on a feature investigative journalism piece on synthetic drugs known as “K2/Spice”. He was also interviewed by Chicago Public Radio on K2/Spice. In 2013, Bruce was interviewed by The Wall Street Journal for an article on the drug “Molly” and its impact on society. He is a frequent technical assistance provider for the US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

Bruce Talbot has been featured at both national and state conferences including the American Medical Association National Congress on Adolescent Health, the American Society for Industrial Security, the National Public Employees Labor Relations Association, the US Center for Disease Control Summer Workshop, US Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Synar Conference, the National Crime Prevention Conference, the US Surgeon General’s Inter-agency Commission on Smoking and Health, the Southwest Regional Organized Crime Conference and the National GHB/Designer Drug Conference.
Expert Witness
Bruce Talbot has been qualified as an expert witness for both the prosecution and defense in criminal court cases in Illinois and Texas in driving under the influence cases. He has twice been called to testify as a subject matter expert witness on adolescent gateway-drug control before two United States Senate Committees. Bruce has testified as a technical source expert on adolescent drug control before the Florida State Senate and the U. S. Surgeon General’s Inter-agency Committee on Smoking and Health.
Professional Certifications, Licenses and Organizational Membership
Bruce is certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board as a police officer trainer in the field of substance abuse and drunk-driving enforcement. He is also a certified Standardized Field Sobriety Testing/Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus instructor by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. While employed with the Woodridge police department, Sergeant Talbot was assigned as the detective unit supervisor and during his course of duties he investigated sexual assault cases. He was also licensed by the State of Illinois as a Breathalyzer Operator. Bruce is a member of the Illinois Drug Enforcement Officers Association and the DuPage County Police Association.
